Job Description

To provide academic assistance to students enrolled in language courses as well as assist faculty with course material preparation; In individual or group sessions with clients, the tutor follows acceptable and clearly established procedures, actively involving the learner in the content of the course and suggesting appropriate study strategies for the client's use; Keeps accurate records of client service; Tutors must treat clients ethically; Assists language faculty members with course material preparation.

Communications:

  • Utilize effective oral communications when answering questions, presenting conceptes, and re-directing questions
  • Keep accurate records of client service
  • Adapts communication style for a variety of student levels of interest and ability

Critical/Creative Thinking and Problem Solving:

  • Resolve needs of clients
  • Answer students' questions
  • Review homework assignments
  • Make referrals when needed

Computer:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of course related computer exercises

Self-Directed Learning:

  • Seek support and guidance
  • Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete various tasks
  • Help studdents understand content-area concepts
  • Develop strategies to support a variety of student learners
  • Employ creativity and flexibility in all aspects of role

Competence in a Discipline:

  • Ability to ready, speak and write in the target language

$7.65 per hour
