Job Description

Assist with design and development of publications, educational software, social media content and web page design. Conceptualizes designs, develops and prepares layouts, artwork and electronic files for promotional, informational and public relations publications, including fliers, brochures, booklets, advertising and web graphics that adhere to University standards. Prepare projects for professional printing and the opportunity to work on projects from start to finish. Maintain Human Resources and Student Employment social media accounts.


  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and use effective written and verbal communication
  • Create artwork and layouts for web pages, multimedia, advertising and marketing

Critical/Creative Thinking and Problem Solving:

  • Resolve needs of clients using knowledge and resources
  • Receive general instructions and complete projects independently
  • Have knowledge of flatbed scanner and digital camera


  • Have knowledge of HTML, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, PowerPoint and Windows XP

Self-Directed Learning:

  • Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete various tasks

Competence in a Discipline:

  • Graphic design, working knowledge of printing process, proofreading skills
  • Practice post-production skills, such as the ability to scale, crop and mount publications

Personal/Social Development:

  • Pay attention to detail
  • Exhibit positive customer relations skills
  • Exhibit professionalism and courtesy

Team Work/Team Leading:

  • Demonstrate ability to work positively with others


  1. Art (Graphic Design), IDM, Public Relations or Advertising majors preferred;
  2. Must be proficient in InDesign and Photoshop skills
  3. Completion of entry-level and some upper-level coursework, such as:
      • Letter Forms and Graphic Design
      • Advanced Creative Electronic ImagingAdvanced Graphic Design
      • Computer Assisted Graphic Design
      • Advertising Design
      • Design Processes
  1. Ability to proofread
  2. Positive customer relation skills
  3. Organization skills
  4. Attention to detail

Wage Rate


Hours Available

10 hours for the remainder of the fall 2014 trimester and up to 20 for spring 2015
