Job Description | Assist instructors in the classroom; As a member of the teaching team, the Teaching Assistants are accoutable to the other team members and to the Director; Teaching Assistants will be successful University students (undergraduate and graduate) and will carry the following responsibilities:
- Attend UBMS classes
- Supervise students in classrooms and labs and during class breaks
- Serve as role models for high school participants in the college classroom and lab
- Participate in class field trips
- Consult/Coordinate with instructors to provide assistance as needed, especially in group research projects and academic tutoring
- Monitor student progress, attendance, and behavior, adn enforce program rules
- Assist instructors with classroom and laboratory preparation and supervision and discipline

Qualifications |
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 is required
- Must have completed Bachelor's degree or significant progress (60+ credit hours) toward completion of Bachelor's degree
- Enrollment in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math Education, Science Education, or Computer Science is required (Successful structured teaching and/or tutoring experience may be substituted)
- Strong mathematics/science and lab skills required
- Clear understanding and support of program's goals is required
- Knowledge of effective teaching/ learning processes
- Experience working with high school age students is highly preferred
- Personal experience in overcoming the barriers related to low-income, first generation status is preferred

Wage Rate | $10.00 per hour |
Hours Available | 20 Hours per week for six weeks |
