Upward Bound Math & Science

Job Description

Provide UBMS students with Foreign Language/Culture instruction as required by approved UBMS Grant.

  • Develop and maintain current lesson plans emphasizing hands-on activities
  • Cooperate in curriculum coordination, and provide appropriate pre-and post-test questions
  • Provided tutoring to participants as needed in the Foreign Language and its culture
  • Supervise participants during class, with assistance from a TA
  • Serve as role model (mentor) to help participants prepare for the transition to the college campus
  • Communicate with other teaching team members and central staff
  • Evaluate participants' efforts and accomplishments
  • Evaluate TAs at the end of the summer session


  • Competence/fluency in English and a Foreign Language
  • Spoken English easily understandable (as determined by central staff)
  • Ability to plan and direct class activities
  • University International student status is preferred 

Wage Rate

$35.00 per hour

Hours Available

10 Hours per week for six weeks
