Duties and Responsibilities:
In individual or group sessions with clients, the tutor...

  • Follows acceptable and clearly established procedures
  • Actively involves the learner in the course content and suggests appropriate study strategies
  • Empowers students to take ownership for their learning and encourages academic rigor
  • Develops or locates appropriate materials and resources to help clients synthesize course concepts
  • Recruits clients by speaking with instructors/making announcements in classes
  • Reviews job description/contract in its entirety each trimester employed
  • Attends and actively participates in required weekly TDC professional development for growth and improvement of TDC programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Communications:

  • Checks Northwest email daily
  • Submits work schedule prior to the first week of classes for each trimester employed
  • Ensures maintenance of accurate TDC records for any and all client services
  • Communicates information regarding work schedules, sickness, or any problems or concerns that you have, with supervisors as soon as possible
  • Submits time sheets by the date requested at the end of every month

Critical/Creative Thinking and Problem Solving:

  • Employ creativity and flexibility in all aspects of the role

Computer:

  • Competence with Microsoft Office Suite

Self-Directed Learning:

  • Prepare for tutoring sessions by reading texts, supplemental materials, and meeting with TDC staff as needed for support

Competence in a Discipline:

  • Encourage students' use of the language of their discipline to develop subject-area

Personal/Social Development:

  • Reflect upon your strengths and abilities and share your successful experiences with others
  • Actively participate in TDC professional development experiences
  • Exhibit professionalism
  • Support and encourage students

Team Work/Team Leading:

  • Demonstrate ability to work positively with others
  • Maintain a professional and supportive relationship with the entire University community

Multicultural:

  • Interact regularly with diverse on-campus populations
