Job Description

To aid in the publication of Northwest Student Publications: Northwest Missourian Newspaper or Tower Yearbook

Duties and Responsibilities:

Varies per area. Can include attending all staff related meetings, develop ideas for publications, coordinate with other areas, interview and write stories, design pages, design and program a website, photograph news and events, or proofread articles, and assist in teaming sessions. (Photographer, writer, or designer)

  • Utilize effective oral and written communication when delegating or answering questions

Critical/Creative Thinking and Problem Solving:

  • Follow and enforce deadlines, handle editorial problems, and help choose award entries, use good news judgment.

  • Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete various tasks

  • Assist with determination of deadlines and advertising design content

  • Work with advertising managers and actively participate in advertising staff meetings

Qualifications

Must have completed one semester of Newspaper, Sales, or Yearbook Practicum or completed one semester on NW Student Media staff. Successful completion or current enrollment in Professional Media Writing and/or Media Design and/or Photojournalism is preferred but not required. Exceptions can be made and are at the discretion of the Editor in Chief of the publication. Must have a current, valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

Wage Rate

$7.50
