Job Description

Purpose of Position: To provide assistance to an academic department

Duties and Responsibilities:  Hold study sessions for one of the following: Fundamentals of Mathematics combined with  Algebra and Geometry, Precalculus combined with  College Algebra and Trigonometry , Calculus I-II, General Statistics, 2 times a week for 1.5 hours each (a total of 3 hours per week).

Communications:

  • Conduct individual math tutoring
  • Utilize effective oral communications when answering questions

 Self-Directed Learning:

  • Have ability to recognize
  • Initiate and complete various tasks
  • Help students prepare for tests and quizzes

Competence in a Discipline:

  • Knowledge of math or statistics concepts

Personal/Social Development: 

  • Pay attention to detail
  • Exhibit professionalism and courtesy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Exhibit positive customer relations skills
  • Support and encourage students
  • Promote student involvement with course content

Qualifications

Applicants must have previously taken the classes they are hired to tutor for, preferably at Northwest, and earned an A or B in each.

Wage Rate

$7.75

Hours Available

5-15 Hours/Week ;Fall and spring trimesters
