Job Description

To provide on air announcement and news anchoring; On-air board operation; News gathering, writing and reading; Conduct interviews; Record satellite programming; Assist with on-air fund-raising, election coverage and production; Monitor transmitter readings and know and adhere to the FCC rules and regulations; Write and deliver news broadcasts; Utilize effective oral communications during broadcasting; Ability to speak, read and write in English fluently; Diagnose technical problems and respond accordingly; Demonstrate analytical sills; General knowledge of computers; Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete various tasks; Use various pieces of broadcasting equipment; Record programs in satellite central; Receive and deliver emergency alert system messages; Comply with FCC rules and regulations; Pay attention to detail; Exhibit professionalism and courtesy; Exhibit positive customer relations skills; Meet deadlines; Demonstrate ability to work in a team environment; Have ability to work with diverse on and off campus populations; Exposure to topics appropriate for public radio.

Qualifications

Applicants must complete an audition process that includes an audio air check; It is strongly recommended that applicants speak English as a primary language and have completed Introduction to Broadcast Operations MC20-111 and one trimester of Practicum in Radio MC 20-215; Complete audition process; Familiar with broadcast equipment; Ability to write and deliver news; Ability to conduct on air interviews; Aware of Federal Communications Commission rulings and expectations; Speak clearly and distinctly; Ability to speak, read and write in English fluently; Pick up an audition packet from Patty Holley.

Applicants must complete an audition on Wednesday, December 2 or Thursday, December 3 that includes pre-recording an audio air check and newscast. Pick up an audition packet from Patty Holley. It is strongly recommended that applicants speak English as a primary language and have completed Introduction to Broadcast Operations MC 20-111 and one trimester of Practicum in Radio MC 20-215.
