Office of Scholarships & Financial Assistance

Job Description

To provide office assistance to the Office of Student Financial Assistance; Answer phones, take messages, assist callers with questions, make photocopies, run errands, fax, distribute items, file, schedule appointments and other duties as assigned.


  • Mail materials
  • Utilize effective communication skills when answering questions
  • Ability to follow oral instructions

Critical/Creative Thinking and Problem Solving:

  • Explain scholarship and financial aid information and processes clearly
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Receive general instructions and complete projects independently
  • Answer questions or refer customers to the appropriate source for information
  • Multi-task oriented


  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel; Internet

Self-Directed Learning:

  • Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete various tasks

Competence in a Discipline:

  • Fundamentals of Accounting and Communication

Personal/Social Learning:

  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Exhibit professionalism and courtesy
  • Pay attention to detail

Team Work/Team Leading:

Knowledge of Word and Excel; General keyboarding skills; Familiarity with the Internet; Attention to detail; Organized; Professional and courteous; Excellent customer service skills; Must have work study eligibility; Must be available and willing to work breaks and enroll in 6 credit hours in the summer to work throughout the entire summer; Good communication skills and customer service experience desired; Must have completed the FAFSA application and be eligible for Federal Work Study; This position is a year round position and will require enrollment in summer school and be willing to work during break times as needed when the University opens.
