Job Description

To provide computer assistance to lab patrons and assist in maintenance and security of equipment; Answer questions about software applications; Maintain security of computer equipment and lab during scheduled hours; Answer the phone, taking messages, transferring calls; Other duties as assigned; Able to rephrase information; Utilize effective oral communications when answering questions; Inform technicians of mechanical and/or software failures; Communicate technical information in user friendly terms and language; Resolve needs of clients; Troubleshoot hardware/software problems; Follow detailed directions both oral and written; Adhere to and apply appropriate processes and procedures; Basic knowledge of Windows XP; Understand fundamental hardware components with printers, scanners, and access ZIP drives and networks; Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Internet Explorer, Web-based Exchange Email, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Outlook, FTP, HTML, SPSS, WinZip; Familiarity with the Northwest campus computer network; Work unsupervised; Have ability to recognize, initiate and complete various tasks; Maintain a professional, clean lab environment; Completion of training materials in a timely fashion without direct supervision; Apply fundamentals of computer related majors; Patience; Exhibit professionalism and courtesy; Exhibit positive customer relations skills; Maintain confidentiality ; Willingness to learn and train others; Demonstrate ability to work positively with others; Have ability to work with diverse customers.

Qualifications

Minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA; Experience with: Windows XP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet Explorer, Web-based Exchange Email; Experience with the following helpful: Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Access, Outlook, FTP, HTML, WinZip, SPSS; Excellent communication skills; Customer relation’s skills; Willingness to learn and train others; Ability to follow detailed directions both oral and written; Strong English communication skills for working with people of diverse backgrounds.
