Purpose of Position: To provide assistance for the dairy enterprise
Duties and Responsibilities: Perform tasks as assigned by supervisor such as: prepare milking equipment and bulk tank for milking. Move cows between housing and milking facilities for milking and help other employees bring in cows if needed or requested. Handle and milk all cows in an orderly, proper, and consistent manner. Cows should not be frightened or excited either before or during milking. Milk cows using approved procedures, including pre- and post-milking, to obtain optimum yield, product quality, and cow health. Clean and sanitize milking and milk storage equipment in compliance with state and federal regulations. Clean lots and freestalls daily. Give supervisor sufficient notice to arrange for a substitute milker if unable to work scheduled hours. Must drive a University vehicle or equipment. Availability to work during semester breaks and holidays as needed. Timeliness for submitting Web Time Sheet required.
