Job Description

Purpose of Position: 

  • To serve and educate prospective students and families throughout the recruitment process.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Act as a positive representative of Northwest while conveying optimism in attitude and demeanor at all times while interacting with prospective students and families.  Must work two 2-hour blocks per week; Must work three Saturdays per trimester; Assist with recruitment activities such as Advantage Week, three Green & White Days, and Distinguished Scholar’s Day; Operate a University all-terrain vehicle to run errands or transport visitors on campus.  Attend ongoing training exercises every week.


  • Facilitate stimulating campus tours in order to contribute to Northwest's longevity ability to follow oral instructions
  • Utilize effective oral communication skills when answering questions
  • Participate in online chats in order to answer questions posed by prospective students
  • Write hand written letters to prospective students

Critical/Creative Thinking and Problem Solving:

  • Receive general instructions and complete projects independently 
  • Utilize knowledge of campus resources in order to effectively resolve problems while on tour
  • Personalize each tour based on the interests of the visiting family


  • Send emails containing a campus visit evaluation directly following each tour

Self-Directed Learning:

  • Act responsibly while working unsupervised
  • Recognize, initiate and complete various tasks as seen fit

Personal/Social Development:

  • Maintain confidentiality while handling information regarding prospective students
  • Exhibit professionalism, courtesy and positive customer relations at all times
  • Pay attention to detail
  • Confidently communication with a variety of individuals in any situation 

Team Work/Team Leading:

  • Demonstrate ability to work with coworkers


  • Have ability to work with diverse on and off campus populations.


  • Minimum 2.90 GPA
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong familiarity with the college campus and a variety of campus programs
  • Relate to a variety of people
  • React quickly and appropriately to challenges presented
  • Exhibit interpersonal exceptional skills
  • University knowledge during screening interviews

Length of Employment

As long as performance is satisfactory
