Position Description Explanation

All position descriptions will include a position number in the upper right hand corner.  This position number is assigned by the Student Employment Office after the position description is submitted.  The department name and FOAP number is listed on the description at the top of the document.  The position description must be reviewed and approved by the Student Employment Office.  A title of a position is determined with the assistance of the Student Employment Office after review of the description.  The purpose of the position is to provide for the actual functions of that position.  The duties and responsibilities are to include the main functions of the position.  Competencies expected are to provide more detailed information of what competencies are expected in order to perform the job.  Some information may not be applicable for certain positions and may be left blank.  Job qualifications provide a detailed description of those qualifications that an employee must possess in order to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.  Each position is needed throughout specific times during the year and is indicated by the length of employment.  Some positions may only be summer employment, while others are fall and spring trimesters.  Student employment supervisors are the people responsible for supervising the student employee hired for the position described.  The wage rate is determined by the Student Employment Office and is based on the job duties and qualifications and is consistent throughout campus in comparison of other positions.
