Position

International Data and Records Specialist, Intercultural and International Center

Employment Status

Non-exempt, regular, part-time position, renewed annually

Position Summary

Serves as a designated school official (DSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), which is managed by the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security

Essential Functions

  1. Enters, reviews and submits F-1 (visa) student data in the SEVIS system
  2. Prepares immigration forms, maintains and updates student records
  3. Develops data reports for SEVIS compliance
  4. Assists the Director of International Affairs and ESL in the advisement of international students on immigration regulations, University policy, academic, financial and personnel matters that potentially impact student status
  5. Assists the Director of International Affairs and ESL in providing services for international students including orientation and on-going advisement throughout the semester
  6. Assists as needed with genereal clerical functions in the Intercultural and International Center
  7. Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma
Experience: At least one year of experience in a professional office setting
Skills: Must possess proficient skills in computing, data entry/management, time management and organization; must be able and willing to work with an ethically diverse student population

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field
Experience: Prior experience in a position with extensive data management responsibilities
Skills: Cross-cultural communication skills and supervision

Working Conditions

Indoor office setting

Supervisory Responsibilities

Limited supervision of student employees

Equipment/Materials Used

Standard office machines including computers, printers, telephone, fax and copy machine
