Position

Groundskeeper, Environmental Services

Employment Status

Non-exempt, 12-month, full time position

Position Summary

Groundskeeper

Essential Functions

  1. Maintain grass: mow, trim, edge, seed, till, fertilize
  2. Transplant, prune, mulch and water trees and shrubs
  3. Remove leaves, weeds, litter
  4. Assist with snow removal from walks and stairs
  5. Mix, apply and store appropriate pesticides
  6. Clean storm grates and catch basins
  7. Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma
Certification/License: Valid driver's license
Skills: Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Landscape or lawn care training
Certification/License: Pesticide applicator's license, ornamental and turf categories
Experience: Lawn care, landscape care or closely related farm or grounds care experience
Skills: Turf management

Working Conditions

Outdoors in all types of weather

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise student employees

Equipment/Materials Used

Mowers, truck, utility vehicles, weed-trimmers, tillers, tractors and attachments, sod cutter, aerators, chain saws, hand tools, pesticides, fertilizers, edgers and other gardening and lawn maintenance tools

Typical Physical Demands

Ability to do heavy lifting
