Support Staff - Job Description

Position

Custodian, Custodial Services

Employment Status

Non-exempt, Annual

Position Summary

During the first 60 days of employment the employee must successfully complete all beginning training for the job. The employee must show the ability to work as a part of a team cleaning program with a willingness to accept guidance and directives from the supervisor/associate supervisor. Flexibility is a must in this position.

Essential Functions

  1. Successfully complete formalized orientations
  2. Successfully complete 40 hours hands-on training
  3. Attend a formalized training
  4. Willing and able to clean assigned area on a daily basis
  5. Willing and able to do snow shoveling and ice removal as needed
  6. Other tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High school diploma
Certification/License: Driver's license
Experience: One year of related experience; basic carpet cleaning experience
Skills: Basic communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience: One year cleaning experience

Working Conditions

Working conditions can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Custodian must be able to be on feet for extended length of time. Work hours are 3:00 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday with a half-hour lunch. All safety guidelines must be followed by custodian.

Equipment/Materials Used

Must be able to work with basic custodial equipment and all necessary chemicals

Typical Physical Demands

This job requires the ability to do bending, lifting 50 to 75 pounds, standing, squatting, climbing ladders, scooping of snow, motor skills and dexterity to run custodial equipment and ability to wear personal protective equipment.
