Assistant Director of Campus Activities, Campus Activities

Employment Status

Exempt, full-time, twelve-month position

Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Campus Activities directs all aspects of Greek Life and Student Activities Council. Additionally, the Assistant Director assists the Director of Campus Activities with the overall administration and programming of the Office of Campus Activities and contributes to the successful development and implementation of strategic Student Affairs initiatives.

Essential Functions

  1. Directs all aspects of the Greek Life program, including basic administrative duties, budget management, advising, program planning and evaluation, recruitment, conduct enforcement, membership development and marketing/promotions. Serve as liaison between the University and chapter advisors, alumni and (Inter)National Headquarters.
  2. Advises the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Northwest National Pan-Hellenic Council and Order of Omega
  3. Directs all aspects of the Student Activities Council, including basic administrative duties, budget management, advising, program planning and evaluation and marketing/promotions
  4. Supervises, with the Director, two Graduate Assistants (Greek Life and Student Activities Council)
  5. Serves as the chair of the Family Weekend planning committee, including basic administrative duties, budget management, program planning and evaluation and promotions
  6. Conducts basic administrative duties, including budget management, personnel management, event planning, contract negotiations and event promotions
  7. Collaborates with other Student Affairs areas and University departments as needed
  8. Develops and sustains effective and appropriate relationships with students, faculty, staff and others
  9. Directs continuous quality improvement efforts for the areas under his/her supervision (includes strategic planning and evaluation/assessment)
  10. Serves on University committees, teams and task forces as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in education or related field
Experience: One-two years of professional experience, including Graduate experience in student activities and/or Greek Life
Skills: Basic event planning, organizational, interpersonal, communication, advising, team building and problem solving skills; flexible and adaptable; creative and innovative

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or a related field
Experience: Three or more years of professional experience in student activities and/or Greek Life; strong administrative experience in Student Affairs, and in particular supervising others, managing resources and planning/evaluation programs and services
Skills: Good strategic planning; research/assessment and facilitation skills

Working Conditions

This position works in an air-conditioned office in a newly renovated building. Also requires work in a variety of University settings, including activities outdoors.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position requires minimal supervision and supervises a graduate assistant and assists in the supervision of student employees.

Equipment/Materials Used

IBM compatible PC, office equipment and audio visual equipment

Typical Physical Demands

Requires sitting, standing and may require some moderate lifting
