Position

Alternative Certification/Dual Credit Coordinator, Outreach

Employment Status

Exempt, 12-month, 3/4 time position (.75 FTE)

Position Summary

The Coordinator will be responsible for budgeting, organizing, planning, grant writing and marketing of the alternative certification program and dual credit offerings in northwest Missouri including Kansas City area. The chosen candidate should be prepared to teach, select and supervise adjunct instructors, student supervisors and student teachers. The coordinator must possess exemplary instructional knowledge and techniques in the middle and/or secondary level. The coordinator will teach for the August introduction class and may teach during the school year for evening classes at various graduate sites.

Essential Functions

  1. Direct Northwest alternative certification/dual credit programs
  2. Serve as point of contact for school districts with Northwest alternative certification/dual credit
  3. Interface with departments and administrative offices for students and programs in both alternative certification and dual credit offerings
  4. Market both programs using advisory councils, print, school and department visits, etc.
  5. Select and supervise adjunct professors and field supervisors and other personnel as needed
  6. Teach graduate courses in the middle/secondary level
  7. Supervise students in the field
  8. Serve as co-advisor with departmental advisor to alternative certification students
  9. Manage budgets for the Northwest alternative certification program and the Northwest dual credit program
  10. Evaluate programs annually to assess growth and success
  11. Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Education with additional hours to allow for approval from the graduate council
Experience: Seven years in teaching and/or administration
Skills: Computer applications; teaching skills; supervision skills; communication skills, oral and written; organization skills; management skills

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Specialist or Terminal degree in Education
Experience: Seven years in teaching and/or administration

Working Conditions

Travel and flexible scheduling required

Supervisory Responsibilities

Part-time personnel, adjunct faculty, student supervisors and clerical

Equipment/Materials Used

General office and technology equipment

Typical Physical Demands

Ability to distribute boxes of books and materials to dual credit and extended sites
