Admissions Representative, Admissions (Illinois region)

Employment Status

Non-exempt, 10-month, full-time position, renewed annually

Position Summary

The Admissions Representative is responsible for representing and promoting Northwest Missouri State University accurately and persuasively to prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, educators and other publics. Additionally, the admissions representative assists the Associate Director with the administration of all campus recruitment activities.

Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for the coordination and management of all off-campus recruitment activities within their assigned territory (counselor luncheons, junior nights, high school visits, college fairs, regional conferences, award presentations and other venues
  2. Create and maintain positive relationships with prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, educators and other publics within assigned territory by providing information on academics, fees, housing, student life and general university activities
  3. Coordinate and provide group and one-to-one presentations at regional high schools, community colleges and other venues within assigned territory
  4. Utilize value-added and relationship based techniques when working with prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, educators and other publics
  5. Create and achieve territorial goals and objectives based on trend data, historical reporting and evaluation of prospect and admitted database information
  6. Establish and maintain contact with prospective students through e-mail, personal notes and phone calls
  7. Analyze, read and report feedback to Associate Director of Admissions concerning on-going competitive environment
  8. Review, update and utilize computer-based lead tracking systems (AIM, EIS and Banner) to aid in prospective student recruitment
  9. Serve as a liaison between various internal departments (International/Intercultural Center, Financial Assistance, Advisement/Assistance, Admissions North, Academic departments, Residential Life and other areas) in resolution of prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, educators and other publics concerns and issues
  10. Assists the Associate Director of Admissions with the coordination of all on-campus recruitment activities (Campus visit days, bus tours, departmental contests, dual enrollment visits, distinguished scholars day and other on-campus events)
  11. Assists the Coordinator of Student Orientation & Transfer Affairs with the coordination of Student Orientation and Registration, Advantage week and General Registration
  12. Survey residents of assigned territory to assess needs of prospective students, parents, guidance counselors, educators and other publics
  13. Performs other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree
Certification/License: Driver's license
Skills: Extensive knowledge of colleges and universities; ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds as well as cultivate awareness of cultural diversity; strong organizational skills; strong public speaking skills; ability to load, unload and set up exhibits

Working Conditions

May be required to work some weekends and evenings with extensive travel during peak months
