Position

Assistant Professor of Foreign Language, Communication, Theatre & Languages

Contract Terms

Full-time, 9-month, tenure-track assistant professor

Position Summary

Tenure-track position with teaching responsibilities in the languages program.

Essential Functions

Primary: To teach language courses in Spanish or Spanish and another foreign language. The ability to develop and teach courses in foreign languages.

Secondary: To teach other courses in the Communication, Theatre and Languages Department according to individual qualifications and department needs. Teaching has highest priority but all faculty advise students, assist with or supervise internships, participate in research/creative activities, service and recruitment efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in a foreign language or related field. Faculty in the Languages programs function as a collaborative team, so teamwork and team leading abilities are a necessity. Development and maintenance of a professional profile is expected. Experience in, or willingness to develop web-based or web-enhanced instructional delivery modes is expected.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to teach upper level courses in Spanish literature and culture.  Ability to offer coursework in languages other than Spanish, French, or American Sign Language (our current offerings) and to grow enrollment in that/those area/s. Prior university teaching experience. We seek energetic individuals committed to the shared vision of a multi-disciplinary department who will make a significant and ongoing contribution to our dynamic and progressive programs.
