Assistant Professor, Educational Leadership

Contract Terms

Full-time, tenure track position

Position Summary

The Northwest Missouri State University Department of Educational Leadership (offering M.S.Ed., Ed.Specialist degrees and a cooperative doctoral program) is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure track assignment. This faculty member will advise administrative candidates and should be prepared to teach from among the following graduate courses: Role and Practice of the Teacher Leader, School Personnel, Research, School and Community Relations and School Supervision. This faculty member may also teach undergraduate education courses and supervise student teachers and administrative practica/interns. It is expected that the faculty member be active in scholarship and in the regional and state administrator organizations. Summer session teaching and evening classes at various graduate sites are anticipated.

Essential Functions

  1. Teach graduate and undergraduate courses pertaining to teacher and administrator preparation
  2. Supervise student teachers and administrative interns
  3. Engage in scholarly acitivites (publish and present at local, state and national venues)
  4. Advise both graduate and undergraduate students
  5. Serve on department, college and university committees
  6. Attend department, college and university meetings
  7. Support and collaborate with colleagues and students
  8. Serve on dissertation committees
  9. Engage in ongoing professional development
  10. Actively participate in professional organizations
  11. Cultivate and support partnerships with local and regional P-12 school districts
  12. Recruit students and assist in marketing activities for the department, college and university

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Earned doctorate (or ABD) in Educational Administration/Educational Leadership/Secondary
Skills: Potential for scholarly activity and willingness to assist local school districts with their professional development needs; working knowledge of the latest trends in technology as applied to the field

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership
Experience: Experience in principalship and secondary teaching

Supervisory Responsibilities

This faculty member would assist in supervising student teachers and administrative interns
