Position

Assistant Professor, Biological Sciences

Contract Terms

Tenure-track position

Position Summary

Assistant Professor to teach pre-professional Human Anatomy, Histology and other courses that may include General Biology and General Zoology  (12-hour load per trimester).

Essential Functions

  1. Primarily teach human anatomy and histology to pre-professional undergraduate students, but opportunities exist to develop courses in his/her area of expertise
  2. Ability to teach general biology or zoology
  3. Interest in supervising undergraduate and graduate research
  4. Serve on committees
  5. Maintenance of regular office hours (7 per week)
  6. Perform other duties common to tenure track positions

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Ph.D. or comparable professional degree (e.g. MD or DVM)
Skills: Good classroom management and lecture skills

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Ph.D.
Experience: Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in the skills applicable to the discipline

Working Conditions

Typical university classroom, office and laboratory conditions

Equipment/Materials Used

Dissection instruments, compound microscopes, common classroom teaching equipment

Typical Physical Demands

Ability to complete essential functions in the classroom and laboratory
