Position

English Language Learning Instructional Specialist, Northwest Regional Professional Development Center (NWRPDC)

Employment Status

Exempt, 12-month position

Position Summary

Within the Northwest Regional Professional Development Center (NWRPDC) service region, a combined Instructional Specialist (IS) and Identification and Recruitment (ID&R) and immigrant children and youth and will support high quality, comprehensive and collaborative educational programs for migrant and immigrant children and y outh to meet the same challenging Missouri academic content and achievement standards as ALL children are expected to meet.

Essential Functions

Through professional development activities and on-site consultation, the combined Instructional Specialist (IS)/Identification Recruitment (ID&R) Specialist will assist school districts and agri-businesses build their capacity to:

  1. Determine the presence and eligibility of migratory and limited English proficient children and youth
  2. Develop, implement and sustain content and language instruction educational programs
  3. Promote parental and community understanding of and participation in content and language instruction educational programs 
  4. Ensure access to and disseminate information regarding appropriate and coordinated supportive services that address unique cultural, linguistic, social and health-related factors
  5. Build interagency cooperation among various educational and community resources, including participation as a member of the NWRPDC team

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Education
Experience: Five (5) years experience as a teacher and/or administrator wiht a proportion in migrant/ELL education; knowledge and experience delivering research-based effective instruction and migrant/ELL programs; knowledge and experience with testing and assessing instruments relating to migrant/ELL instructional programs; knowledge and experience providing high quality professional development activities
Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the employing agency meet the requirements of the position, may be accepted in lieu of the qualifications listed above

Preferred Qualifications

Edcuation: Master's in TESOL
Experience: Five (5) years experience as a teacher and/or administrator in migrant/ELL education
Skills: Proficiency in Spanish and/or another foreign languages; proficiency in word processing applications

Position will require travel
