Other Professional Experiences

I worked as a Board member and Board Chair for Midland Empire Resources for Independent Living (MERIL) from 2001 to 2010 and have continued to work with this agency intermittently on a variety of projects since then. I have served on the Editorial Board of Therapeutic Recreation Journal, the premier journal in therapeutic recreation, since 2002 and served as Editor in Chief from 2008-2011. I’ve also served on the Boards of agencies such as the National Therapeutic Recreation Society, the Missouri Parks and Recreation Association, the National Sports Center for the Disabled – Kansas City, and the Recreation Commission for the Greater Kansas City area. Throughout my career I have worked with several organizations to develop and provide various Camp and Adventure based therapy programs for youth.
