The Northwest Missouri State University IRB reviews all research projects that utilize human participants. For projects utilizing animal subjects, please review the information from the Animal Welfare Committee.
Three types of review applications are available: Exempt, Expedited, and Full. Each type has a separate application. Read the instructions for the exempt and expedited reviews to determine whether you believe your project falls under one of these categories. If not, you must submit a full review. The IRB Chair will determine whether you have submitted the correct application. If not, it will be returned to you with instructions to complete a different kind of review.
Each application is provided through a template that has gray text boxes in which you may enter the required information. These applications and necessary attachments are to be filed with the IRB in two formats.
First, print your proposal, necessary attachments, and obtain all necessary signatures. Forward the signed, printed copy to the current IRB Chair. The IRB approval process will not begin until a printed copy of the application and necessary documentation is presented to the IRB chair.
Second, send an electronic copy of your completed application and any necessary documentation to IRBNWMS@nwmissouri.edu.
IRB approval is granted for one calendar year from the date of the approval (unless otherwise noted on the approval document you receive). Once approval is provided, please return to this website to file a Status Report
