Graphic Design

The Graphic Design program is an integral component of the Art Department at Northwest Missouri State University, a vibrant and energetic department and program that provides the skills and knowledge necessary for a well-rounded visual education.

Graphic designers are creative problem solvers who can think in concepts and see personality in typefaces. They create idea-driven visual communications, coming up with fresh ways to get a message across in a way that helps educate and inform. The Graphic Design program at Northwest will immerse students in the latest trends and, of course, school them on the classics, too. Students will learn how to use color, typography, texture, image and spatial relationships to get a message noticed. They will learn how to ask why as they think through each aspect of a project. They will use the principles of art and design to help shape culture while being socially, culturally and environmentally responsible. And of course they will graduate with a portfolio to prove it.
