None of us expected you would be receiving this letter under these circumstances! In life nothing is really permanent except change and sometimes when it's least expected. I am excited to return and WORK WITH YOU as your Director! My last season with BMB was 2003 so I will need your help because in many ways I will also be a new member. To the BMB veterans I look forward to continuing the standard of excellence and pride you have, and to all those who join me as new BMB members, WELCOME! TOGETHER we will make this a GREAT FALL!

As the season starts you become a part of the BMB traditions of excellence. The pride, spirit, enthusiasm, and musicianship each of us displays will be the foundation for a successful season. Our football fans and alumni expect a high standard of musical performance and entertainment. Each of us must strive to achieve these goals.

As your director, I pledge to make the BMB a rewarding and enjoyable experience. It is a privilege to return and work with you this season. Together we will strive to make our performances exciting and enthusiastic and our rehearsals organized and efficient.

This BMB Handbook (will be online soon) is designed to help you to become oriented to the Bearcat Marching Band. Study it carefully and bring it with you to orientation drill sessions. Then keep it permanently as reference material. Our 2012 BMB schedule is posted online.

The tradition of excellence we enjoy has been established by the hard work and effort of many BMB alumni over the past years. The "Musical Pride of Northwest" has, through its reputation for quality, been invited to perform for the Kansas City Chiefs, The Governor of Missouri, The Clarinda Band Jamboree, The Carrollton Band Festival, The Valley Fest Marching Band Jamboree and, of course, the New Year's Day Parade in London, England! It is important that we be aware of our past accomplishments as we pursue the future.

The right to proclaim this year's band as a successful part of the tradition of excellence depends on what we do individually and collectively in the months ahead. The challenge is ours...Let's Do It. I love bands and band music and it is a privilege to be your Director. This is your Band and what you give to it is up to you. WELCOME TO THE MUSICAL PRIDE OF NORTHWEST and the 2012 version of the Bearcat Marching Band.
