Meet the Trumpet Studio

Mikaela Earl

Mikaela Earl

Mikaela Earl is a Vocal and Instrumental Music Education major from Kearney, Missouri. In high school she was a member of the Kearney Wind Ensemble for two years, was a member of the pit band for her high school production of Annie, and sang as a member of the Kearney Bel Canto choir her senior year. Mikaela began her studies at Northwest in 2016 where she performs with the University Chorale, Tower Choir, Bearcat Marching Band, Studio Jazz Ensemble, Pep Band, and Symphonic Band. She is also a member of the National Association for Music Education.

Philip Elsbecker

Philip Elsbecker

Philip Elsbecker is a Bachelor of Arts major from Forney, Texas. Beginning his studies at Northwest in 2015, Philip performs with the Northwest Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, Bearcat Marching Band, and the Northwest Bell Tower Brass Quintet. He served as Principal Trumpet of the 2016 Missouri All-Collegiate Band and the 2017 Missouri All-Collegiate estra (both through competitive blind audition), and was one of the winners of the 2017 Northwest Concerto/Aria Competition, performing Charlier’s “Solo de Concours” with the Northwest Wind Symphony.

RaeAnne Hopkins

RaeAnne Hopkins

RaeAnne Hopkins is a Vocal Music Education major from Creston, Iowa. She began her studies at Northwest in 2014 and performs with the University Chorale, Tower Choir, Madraliers/Celebration, Bearcat Marching Band, and Symphonic Band. RaeAnne has also performed as a pianist and trumpeter with the Northwest Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensembles. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota and the National Association for Music Education.

Kala Hughes

Kala Hughes

Kala Hughes is an Organizational Communications major from Liberty North High School in Liberty, Missouri. She was an All-State alternate two years in a row and in the Kansas City All-District estra. Since arriving on campus in 2016, Kala has been a member of the Bearcat Marching Band, Studio Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Wind Symphony. She also serves as piano accompanist for Northwest vocal and instrumental students and is a piano scholarship recipient.

Delaney Lynam

Delaney Lynam

Delaney Lynam is a Chemistry major and Music minor from Millard South High School in Omaha, Nebraska. She was a member of the All-State band for two years and the All-State estra for one year. Beginning her studies at Northwest in 2016, Delaney performs with the Northwest Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Bearcat Marching Band, Studio Jazz Ensemble, and the Pep Band. She is also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota.

Brandon Sconce

Brandon Sconce

Brandon Sconce is a Music Education major from Lincoln College Preparatory Academy in Kansas City, where he was a member of the Missouri All-State Band. He began his studies at Northwest in 2016, performing with the Northwest Wind Symphony, Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Bearcat Marching Band, and (occasionally) the Pep Band. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Kim Shriver

Kim Shriver

Kim Shriver is a Music Education major from Millard South High School in Omaha, where she was a two-year member of the Nebraska All-State Band. She began her studies at Northwest in 2016, performing with the Northwest Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Bearcat Marching Band, and the Pep Band. She is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Sigma Alpha Iota, and the National Educators Association.

Kaila Stigler

Kaila Stigler

Kala Stigler is a Dietetics major and Music minor from Liberty North High School in Liberty, Missouri. She was a member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony and was in the Kansas City All-District Honorable Mention Band. Beginning her studies at Northwest in 2014, Kaila has been a member of the Bearcat Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony, and the Pep Band.

Parker Worden

Parker Worden

Parker Worden is a Music Education student from Raymore-Peculiar High School. Having received his English Education degree from Northwest in 2015, he taught at Maryville High School for the 2015-2016 school year. Parker assists with the Bearcat Marching Band and Pep Band. He also helps coordinate instrumental music equipment moving and serves as the sound technician for Jazz Ensemble concerts. Parker has been a member of the Symphonic Band, Bearcat Marching Band, and Pep Band.
