Northwest Jazz Festival – Northwest students had the opportunity to engage with members of the Count Basie Orchestra at the 2017 Northwest Jazz Festival.
Northwest Concerto Competition – Two Northwest trumpet students, Kaila Stigler and Philip Elsbecker, participated in the 2017 Concerto Competition on Thursday, February 23. Kaila performed the first movement of Haydn’s “Concerto in E-flat” and Philip performed “Solo de Concours” by Charlier. Out of the 17 contestants, Philip was named one of the four winners. He will perform the Charlier with the Northwest Wind Symphony in April.
Northwest Wind Symphony Performs at MMEA – The Northwest Wind Symphony performed at the 2017 Missouri Music Educators Association annual convention in Osage Beach, MO. Trumpeter Philip Elsbecker won the Principal Trumpet position with the Missouri All-Collegiate Orchestra, a group that also performed at MMEA.
