First-time Freshmen and Transfers: Most major-specific scholarships can be applied for by completing the Standard Scholarship Application in CatPAWS by Feb. 1, 2013.
Letters after the scholarship name indicate who may apply for the award:

Awarded annually to two geography majors with a strong commitment to a career in geography.
Awarded annually to a junior or senior Geography major who has demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the discipline and actively involved in extracurricular organizations.
Awarded to a geography major with a minimum GPA of 3.00 who has demonstrated excellence in scholarship, commitment to the discipline, and potential for advanced study and financial need.
Awarded annually to a sophomore geography major who has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement.
Recipient must be a Northwest History Department graduate student working toward M.A. in history. Grant should be used to defray travel costs for research specifically related to approved Masters theses. After the expenditure of his/her research money, the graduate student should submit a brief one-page summary of the work accomplished.
Awarded to an entering freshman who is a prospective history/social science/pre-law major.
Awarded to a sophomore, junior of senior history or social science major with a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Awarded to a junior or senior history/social science major/minor with a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Awarded to a junior or senior history major with a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Sophomore, junior or senior history major or social science major with 3.00 cumulative GPA.
Junior or senior history major or minor with 2.50 cumulative GPA.
Recipients must be a history or social science major, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and have senior standing.
Recipients must be a history or social science major and have 3.00 cumulative GPA.
Recipient shall be classified as a junior or senior and have declared a major in history or social science education. Recipient shall maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA. Consideration will be given to financial need and other criteria of worthiness.
Recipients shall be entering freshmen or upperclassmen declaring a major in Humanities or Social Sciences, show financial need, and show good academic standing having maintained a GPA of 3.0.
Awarded to the philosophy major enrolled as a full-time student who, having completed at least twelve hours of philosophy, has the highest GPA overall and in the field of philosophy.
Awarded to prospective junior and senior majors in political science or public administration. Qualified candidates will be active in departmental student organizations and will have demonstrated serious academic application to both the university and departmental coursework.
Awarded to an entering freshman who is a prospective history/social science/pre-law major.
The H.F. "Hoot" Holland Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a major in political science from Nodaway or Worth County. If qualified candidates from these counties are not available, other candidates will be given consideration. Available to prospective juniors or seniors, made on the basis of need and academic standing.
This scholarship was established for full-time students majoring in Public Administration who have an established history of selfless-service in one's community and/or country. Qualified candidates must have completed at least 30 credit hours, maintain 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA, and be enrolled in 12 hours or more per trimester. All applicants must be United States citizens and have at least one year of uninterrupted service with a public safety agency (fire, police, or emergency medical services) or be a veteran or current member of the United States Armed Forces, to include reserve components.
