All scholarships are payable at the rate of 50% per fall and spring semester. All recipients must be enrolled as full time students. Preference will be given to those students who have been admitted to Teacher Education. Funds may be used for tuition, fees, room and board, and other college expenses.
Applications are available in the Curriculum and Instruction office and must be returned by 5 p.m on January 17, 2003.
Scholarship amounts listed are for the 2002-2003 academic year. The new scholarship amounts for the 2003-2004 academic year will be determined during the second semester and are subject to change.
Award: $500 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipients shall be enrolled in Elementary and Early Childhood, graduated from a Missouri high school in Gentry or Nodaway Counties, 2.5 GPA, accumulated 60 hours and classified as a junior, senior, or graduate student.
Award: $650 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipients shall be education majors, preferably with an interest in classroom teaching, shall have demonstrated high academic performance, and show financial need.
Award: $700 (1 awarded yearly)
Are awarded annually to education majors who graduated from high schools in Gentry, Nodaway, or Worth counties in Missouri. Recipients shall be of good moral character, with excellent academic standing, have completed at least the first semester of their freshman year, and show promise as a future teacher.
Award: $150 (1 awarded yearly)
Is awarded to a junior or senior woman in teacher education with a GPA of 3.00. The recipient shall be from one of the following communities: Albany, Barnard, Grant City, Maryville, Ravenwood, Stanberry, or Tarkio.
Award: $825 (2 awarded yearly)
Will be awarded annually to a junior or senior education major who has expressed an intention of becoming a classroom instructor and has maintained a 3.00 GPA based on a 4.00 point system. At least one shall be awarded to a secondary education major.
Award: $500 (1 awarded yearly)
Must have at least sophomore status and a declared major of elementary or middle school education. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.
Award: $1,750 (1 awarded yearly)
Is awarded to a junior or senior music education major with a 2.75 GPA and who can demonstrate need.
Award: $1000 (1 awarded yearly)
The recipient should be enrolled in the Elementary and Early Childhood Education program, accumulated between 60 and 90 credit hours, have graduated from a high school in Iowa, and has the highest G.P.A. of all candidates. Scholarship will not be renewable by same recipient. No scholarship application required.
Award: $500 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipient of scholarship declared an Education Degree, GPA of 2.5, show financial need, and be a member of men's or women's varsity track team.
Award: $650 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipients must be elementary education majors of good moral character who show promise of excellence in elementary education.
Award: $800 - $1100 (1 awarded yearly)
Applicants must be a junior or senior student who demonstrates leadership, has a 2.85 GPA, and attended NWMSU at least one year. Is awarded in odd numbered years.
Award: $400 (1 awarded yearly)
Must be admitted or demonstrate eligibility for admission to Teacher Education, have a 3.00 grade point or better overall, in major, and in education courses, and submit the following documents: a formal letter of application, a written statement entitled "What can I give to education that no one else can?", and 2 formal letters of recommendation. One letter from a Teacher Education staff member and one letter from outside Teacher Education.
Award: $1,500 - $3,000 (4 - 8 awarded yearly)
Admission to Northwest or 3.00 GPA in previous college coursework. High scholarship. Based on financial need. Letter of recommendation from at least one teacher who can speak of student's probability for success and know of student's desire to become a teacher.
Award: $350 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipient shall be a Northwest junior or senior elementary education major with preference for an early childhood minor, shall have graduated from Maryville High School, shall have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, and show financial need.
Award: $1125 (2 awarded yearly)
Two elementary education majors will be selected annually. Applicants must have completed two semesters at Northwest with at least 56 semester hours of academic credit and a grade point average of at least 3.00. DR.
Award: $900 (3 awarded yearly)
Recipients shall be an education major with a 3.00 GPA, and be actively involved in financing their education through employment. Financial need shall be a determining factor. Preference will be given to a graduate of North Harrison High School, Eagleville, MO in the upper third of the graduating class who have met all other requirements.
Award: $600 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipients must be a junior or senior with a major in middle school education, a 2.75 GPA, be involved in professional activities, and demonstrate financial need.
Award: $750 (1 awarded yearly)
A junior or senior student majoring in education with a 2.75 GPA. Applicant must show promise as a teacher and demonstrate financial need.
Award: $470 (3 awarded yearly)
Memorials for Mary Jane Wilkinson, Roberta Westfall and Dorothy Silcott are included in this fund. Scholarships are awarded annually to junior, senior or graduate students in Education. Applicants shall have a 2.75 GPA and favorable recommendation of at least one faculty member. Letters from teachers and administrators are valuable. Students must submit a typed letter explaining their financial need, activities and interests in the field of education. One scholarship will be awarded to a qualified minority applicant.
Award: $1000 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipients shall have a 3.00 GPA, have a declared major in special education, and show financial need.
Award: $630 (3 awarded yearly)
Recipients must be majoring in special education or a related field, have a GPA of 2.50, and show financial need.
Award: $1000 (2 awarded yearly)
Have attained sophomore status, elementary education major, 3.0 G.P.A., demonstrated financial need, including contributing directly to cost of education through employment.
Award: $100 (1 awarded yearly)
Applicants must be juniors majoring in elementary or secondary education and have a GPA of 3.00. Applicants must also be members of Student MSTA Chapter and be admitted to the Teacher Education program.
Award: $250 (1 awarded yearly)
Awarded annually to a person of good moral character, with excellent academic standing, have junior standing, and show promise for excellence in the area of education with preference for elementary education or guidance and counseling. The scholarship shall be given for use during the senior year.
Award: $150 (1 awarded yearly)
Recipients shall have a GPA of 2.75 and completed a volunteer project with people who have a disability. One scholarship is reserved for an education major and one is reserved for a psychology major.

Education major with minimum sophomore status and 3.0 G.P.A. committed to becoming a teacher. Appliance must demonstrate active involvement in variety of activities contributing to personal growth and the Betterment of Northwest.
