High school students who were a performing member in their 2007-2008 All-State High School Choir, All-State High School Band, All-State High School Orchestra or All-State High School Jazz Band will be given a reduction in the camp fee. The cost for a member of All-State High School Choir, Orchestra, Band, or Jazz Band is reduced by $155.00 for a resident camper or $105 for a commuting camper. The music director MUST sign the student's camp registration form to verify all-state selection.
The family of Amy Hawkins will award one scholarship to a deserving young musician (with junior or senior standing in high school) who desires to continue their participation in the Northwest Missouri State University's Summer Music Camp program, but may need financial assistance to do so. The scholarship is applicable to and will cover the cost of the summer music camp tuition, room, and board, not to exceed the applicable camp fee of $310 (residents) or $210 (commuters). The recipient will be reimbursed for any camp fees previously paid at the time of selection. Deadline for application is May 1, 2008. Amy Kathryn Hawkins, from Chillicothe MO, loved Northwest Music Camp. She attended three summers (2001, 2002, and 2003) and truly enjoyed the friendships, the music, the "college" atmosphere, and the fun ... she wanted to be a "lifer." Sadly, Amy's life ended in a tragic accident when she was 16. To honor Amy's passions and keep her spirit alive, her parents want to offer this magical experience to other young people. Hopefully, the Amy Hawkins Memorial High School Music Camp Scholarship will help others "find their niche."
