Dr. Gibson has been a music faculty member at Northwest since 1982. In addition to teaching single and double reed instruments, he also teaches courses in woodwind methods, graduate-level comprehensive analysis/performance practices, and foundations of music theory. After completing his undergraduate studies at Kansas State University (BSEd), his education pursuits include receiving the MM Degree in music from the Eastman School of Music and a DMA In clarinet performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Gibson’s research interests include velopharyngeal insufficiency (the air leak while playing clarinet, his dissertation topic) and the solo clarinet music of Carl Baermann.
