Wind Symphony

Wind Symphony

The Northwest Wind Symphony, under the direction of Carl A. Kling, is the Music Department's premiere instrumental ensemble. This 60 piece wind and percussion ensemble performs the best standard selections in addition to the most recent repertoire from all styles and periods. The Wind Symphony regularly commissions and premieres new works, performs with guest soloists and conductors of national and international standing. The ensemble has been invited to perform for the Missouri Music Educators Association six times and for the Nebraska Music Educators Association in 2007. The Wind Symphony is active in the support of quality music designed for younger players and has produced several recordings for Wingert-Jones Music Publishers and Joe Pappas Music.  Recently the Wind Symphony has made a new commitment to connecting with its surrounding supporting community by the introduction of "POPS" themed performances that introduce quality wind music to new audiences.

The Wind Symphony (19-209-01 or 19-210-01, 1 hour credit) rehearses Tuesday and Thursday from 12:35 - 1:50 p.m. (during fall and spring semesters).
