The Northwest Orchestra is the newest of our large ensembles. This chamber orchestra performs one concert per semester and is open to all students on campus, regardless of major. Musical selections range from the Baroque to the Modern periods, with a varied mixture of styles. Frequent guest artists include conductors, soloists and featured ensembles.
Enrollment in the string section of the orchestra is based on a playing interview conducted at the first rehearsal of the semester with the orchestra conductor and string coach. Wind and percussion auditions are conducted at the beginning of the fall semester in conjunction with the Wind Symphony Auditions for the Director of Bands and Orchestra.
The Northwest Orchestra (19-118-01 or 19-119-01, 1 credit hour) rehearses Tuesdays from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. (fall and spring).
