Letter to Faculty

Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference
November 9, 2007
Northwest Missouri State University
Maryville, Missouri

Dear Colleagues:

The faculty in the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Counseling at Northwest Missouri State University is excited to host third annual Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference! The conference will be November 9, 2007 on our beautiful campus in Maryville, Missouri.

This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate students to present their research, increase their knowledge of the discipline, and interact with their peers from other institutions. In addition to student presentations, the conference will feature a keynote address by Dr. David Myers, Professor of Psychology at Hope College and author of numerous publications. He will present on the Scientific Pursuit of Happiness.

Please help us “spread the word” about this event. A printed copy of the poster is enclosed for posting in your department. Additional copies of a “letter sized” format are available on the conference web site. We also hope that you will encourage your students to present at the conference – there will be sessions for empirical and non-empirical work as well as presentations about applied learning experiences. However, students are welcome to attend without presenting.

Conference registration and proposal submission will open on October 1, 2007. The deadline for online early bird registration ($15) and proposal submission is October 26 2007. Online advance registration ($18) will close on November 8, 2007. However, on-site registration ($20) will be available. Registration and submission will be completed through the conference website at http://www.nwmissouri.edu/dept/mupc. The early bird registration fee includes a continental breakfast and the awards luncheon.

To encourage the development of this conference, we also ask that your institution consider providing financial support with a contribution of $20. Contributing institutions will be listed in the conference program. Contributions can be made using cash, check, or credit card as noted in the “Institutional Support Form” on the conference website. Institutional support for the conference is completely voluntary; your students will not be turned away from participating in the conference if your institution chooses not to sponsor this event.

Thank you for your support of the Missouri Undergraduate Psychology Conference. If you are not the appropriate person at your institution to receive this information, please forward this letter, or notify Rebecca Hendrix at hendrix@nwmissouri.edu. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Rebecca Hendrix and Alisha Francis
