Field Experience

Field experience is an opportunity to gain practical experience in specific recreation and park management, therapeutic recreation or corporate recreation and wellness programs. The experience must be supervised by a recreation professional and University supervisor and should include a minimum of 200 hours of hands-on experience over a 10 week period.

Internships

An internship is a gradual induction to professional recreation through a progression of experiences. The practical experience should include a minimum of 480 hours of hands-on experience over a 12-16 week period. The experience will be directed and supervised by a recreation professional and a University internship supervisor. Settings for internships may include municipal or community recreation and/or park department, social service agencies, hospitals, fitness facilities, assisted living and others
