Mission

HPERD club's mission is to promote professional development and a sense of fellowship among its members and the entire student body. To enhance knowledge of the profession and to encourage student interest in the fields of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance through interaction with faculty and administrators.

Meeting Time

HPERD Club will be regularly meeting Tuesdays @ 2 p.m. in front of the MH Gym. This is to pass on information and serve as a meeting point. If you are not able to meet at this time, we will have many other opportunities for meeting and for participation.

Benefits

HPERD Club offers students a fantastic opportunity for professional involvement and peer networking. By getting to know and having opportunities to work with faculty and students in the HPERD Department, you can significantly enhance your professional skills and knowledge. In addition, the relationships you develop will carry over into your professional future and can be significantly beneficial throughout your career. In addition to these opportunities for professional development, HPERD Club offers other benefits as well, including the following:

Dues

HPERD Club Dues are $20. Dues are collected annually, and memberships expire at the end of the academic year. Dues cover the cost of the HPERD T-shirt, as well as certain events such as the HPERD Club picnic and Pizza provided at the 1st meeting of the academic year. Social events such as bowling night, or other special events, may require a minimal participation fee. Large events such as a ski trip are typically funded through HPERD Club fund-raising efforts.

Who Can Join?

All HPERD Majors and Minors are encouraged to join HPERD Club.

Member Responsibilities

As a member of HPERD Club, you are expected to attend meetings, contribute to group discussion and decisions, and participate in club initiatives. As member of the club, you may also be attending conferences or other professional events. As, such you are also expected to demonstrate exemplary professional behavior when representing the Club. Benefits associated with participation in HPERD Club are contingent on documented involvement. A point system is used to track involvement in club activities, and is used to determine the extent of reductions in conference fees that each student is awarded.

Officers and Sponsors

Election of Officers

The officers of this organization consist of a president, a vice president, a secretary, a treasurer, and a student senate representative. Officers are elected for a term of one year starting the second block of the second semester of the school year and terminating with the installation of newly elected officer. There will be a designated meeting during the second block of the Spring semester to elect officers.
