The Bachelor of Science degree program in Geology (comprehensive) is designed for students that would like to directly enter the workforce or continue with graduate studies in the area of geology. Core requirements in this program cover the foundational concepts that students would need for a successful transition to graduate school and develop the skills that will be used in any geology-related field. Required collateral classes include two courses in chemistry, two courses in physics, and trigonometry or calculus.
The Bachelor of Science degree program in Environmental Geology has been designed for students that would like to pursue an entry-level position in the field of geology directly after graduation. Students are able to select their coursework to focus on areas of interest including water resources, environmental consulting, geographic information systems or fundamental geology. The course offered in Field Methods specifically addresses concepts and skills typically used in the field of environmental geology.
The department offers a Bachelors of Science in Education for Earth Sciences under the Unified Science program. This program prepares the student to teach Earth Science as well as physics or chemistry at the secondary level. Although Earth Science is often underrepresented in high schools, there is an increasing demand for teachers in this area, especially in metropolitan areas.
A Bachelor of Arts degree program is offered by the department. Students that choose this program typically double-major in the arts or humanities and geology.
