This scholarship honors Dr. Shipley, who served Northwest in many capacities including Chair of the Family and Consumer Sciences Department for over 30 years. Applicant must be a continuing student (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) and majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences. Applicant also must be enrolled in at least 12 hours for Fall and Spring and be considered a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 2.75. Along with the application, candidates must submit a one-page essay describing educational goals, plans for the future, and financial need.

This scholarship was established by Bill Gram to honor his sister, Dr. Mary Rose Gram, a 1945 home economics graduate. The applicant must be a full-time student majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences and must have completed 12 hours in the major with a minimum GPA of 3.2.

The Missouri Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (MAFCS) awards two scholarships of $500 each to two outstanding Family and Consumer Sciences students meeting specific scholarship criteria. The award is paid in two installments of $250 each, one payment at the first semester of the senior year and the second at the second semester. Payment is made directly to the college or university financial officer. The fund was established by the membership in 1953. The first award was announced in 1961. The fund has grown through fundraising projects and contributions.

The Mabel Cook Scholarship was established by alumni, faculty and friends, following the retirement of Miss Mabel Cook as Home Economics Chairwoman in 1971. The $400 scholarship is awarded annually. To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, a student must:
The Family and Consumer Sciences Scholarship Committee will make the scholarship selection. Consideration is given to scholarship achievement, participation in university activities, and promise as a professional.

A scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a female who has elected a major in any field of Family and Consumer Sciences. Preference is given to those students enrolled in the Family and Consumer Sciences Education program. The student must have completed 30 credit hours and be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior. The recipient must have maintained a GPA of 3.2 and be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per trimester. The student needs to have demonstrated an active role in University and/or Department organizations and activities. The scholarship is renewable upon reapplication.

The purpose of the Kappa Omicron Nu Scholar Program is to encourage excellence in scholarship, research, and leadership. The recipient must be a member of KONu and have Junior or 1st semester Senior standing in the FCS Department. Selection requirements include grade point average and involvement in activities. Kappa Omicron Nu local alumni and Northwest's Kappa Alpha chapter provide the funding for these scholarships.

Family and Consumer Sciences ambassadors are appointed for one year, and are awarded $525 per academic year. Eligibility criteria include:
Assignment responsibilities include: an average of one hour of service per week, approximately 25 hours per semester; available for departmental tours; correspondence, including letters to prospective students and thank-you letters and notes; bulletin boards and display cases; and assist faculty in public relations and recruitment activities.
The Ambassadors will coordinate the annual FCS Recognition Banquet and will meet at least once each semester with the FCS faculty.
