Kappa Omicron Nu (http://catpages.nwmissouri.edu/m/konu) is a national honor society for Family and Consumer Sciences majors. Northwest's Kappa Alpha Chapter was established in 1990 by the consolidation of Kappa Omicron Phi (founded at Northwest in 1922) and Omicron Nu. There are more than 130 other chapters across the nation.
The requirements to be considered for membership in KONu include:
The mission of Kappa Omicron Nu is to recognize and encourage excellence in scholarship, research and leadership, and thereby strengthen the profession. Members participate in an educational program based on the biennial theme recommended by the National Council, service and fundraising projects.
Members of KONu have the opportunity to participate in the National Conclave, held in alternate years. KONu fees include the following:
The optional T-shirt, official insignia and guard are available at an additional cost.
Membership in Kappa Omicron Nu meets one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level in numerous professional and technical occupations in federal service (a $3,000 benefit).
