  1. A major in family and consumer sciences, or in a specialized area of these programs
  2. A major in a specialized subject matter area related to family and consumer sciences with two years employment experiences in family and consumer sciences related areas.

Dues

The current national and state dues for student members of AAFCS are $60.00 per year, plus $10.00 for local dues. The money is used to help defray the cost of maintaining student records, as well as the production and dissemination of the Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences to student members. The Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences is a very valuable resource to help students keep current with the profession and to use for research when doing projects.
