Administration of Child Care Programs provides coursework plus the opportunity to apply theory in practice as students work with children in the Early Childhood Center on campus. Many psychology majors find this minor opens opportunities for employment following the completion of the B.S. degree. Graduates with this minor are employed as child care program administrators, parent educators, community services professionals, and also have special appointments working with abused children, foster care, and adoption.

The Family Life and Resource Management minor is directed toward giving the student knowledge, skill, and theory needed to successfully work with families across the life span. Topics emphasized in the courses required include family interaction and functioning, family structure, forms and variation, as well as various approaches to the study of the family. The major coursework will guide the direction of career opportunities. Positions are available in both public and private sectors in many diverse areas.

The Food Service minor is designed for students who wish to add specific skills in institutional or restaurant food service to a business management background. Coursework provides background in nutrition, food science, quantity food preparation and service, food service management, and sanitation.

The Interdisciplinary Gerontology minor provides specific coursework and experiences for working with older adults. The interdisciplinary coursework includes courses from the departments of Family and Consumer Sciences, Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, Psychology/Sociology/Counseling, and Communication and Theater Arts. This minor is designed for a variety of undergraduate majors whose professional preparation may require them to provide programs and services for the older adult population. Courses from this minor also provide excellent professional development opportunities for individuals currently employed in services to the aging.

The Nutrition minor is designed for the student majoring in an allied health profession to increase their knowledge base of nutrition and food science as it affects the general population.  Coursework requires a background in chemistry and physiology and includes coursework in nutrition, food science, and community nutrition.
