DPD Program Outcome Measures
Goals and Outcomes
The goals for the DPD program at Northwest are appropriate for the mission of the present program and are consistent with the vision of the University and mission of the FCS department. They are:
- The DPD program will prepare graduates to be competent in supervised practice programs, graduate school or employment in food and nutrition professions.
Oucome Measures:
- DPD graduates achieve over a 5-year period a pass rate of at least 80% on the RD exam.
- Ninety percent of the DPD graduates who apply for internships will be placed.
- Ninety percent of the DPD graduates who apply for graduate school will be accepted.
- Eighty percent of the graduates who seek employment rather than internships or graduate school, will be placed.
- On the graduate survey, of the graduates who respond, 80% will rate the program in the satisfied (1 or 2) area. (Section III B)
- On the 6 month follow-up of DPD graduates, of the graduates who respond, 80% will rate their preparation satisfactory.
- On the 6 month follow-up of DPD graduates, 80% of the employers and/or internship directors who respond will rate graduates preparation satisfactory.
- The DPD program, through encouragement and academic support, will attract and retain students in the food and nutrition major.
Outcome Measures:
- Ninety percent of Food & Nutrition majors shall have a “4-year plan” in their advisement folder by the second trimester after they have entered the program.
- The DPD program will have a dietetic student ambassador within the FCS department to work with recruitment activities.
- Eighty percent of the Junior and Senior students who have declared a Dietetic major for a minimum of two trimesters will complete the program and receive a verification statement within a 3-year period.
- The DPD program will prepare graduates to be competent in the area of technology.
Outcome Measures:
- Ninety-five percent of the students will have an example of spreadsheet technology in their Senior portfolio.
- All students will have an example of a power point presentation in their Senior portfolio.
- Eighty percent of the students will have an example of a document prepared using Microsoft publisher or other publication software
- On the graduate survey, 80% of the graduates who respond, will indicate that their academic experience at Northwest provided them with the technology skills useful in their career.
- The DPD program will prepare graduates to be “life long learners” and develop a commitment to helping families and individuals sustain or enhance their quality of life.
Outcome Measures:
- Eighty percent of the DPD students will have worked with community health agencies, participated in applied research projects, or worked in area hospitals or health care facilities
- Eighty percent of the students will have contact with a variety of professional role models.
- Seventy five percent of the graduating seniors will have participated in a professional meeting.
- Seventy five percent of the graduates will indicate some form of continuing education on the Graduate survey (Section III G).
