If so, then the Child and Family Studies program at Northwest could be your answer.

The Child and Family Studies major at Northwest has many opportunities available. These opportunities are offered in three emphases, which you may choose within a major or minor. The three programs are:

Child Care and Children's Services

In this emphasis, the goal is to provide experience working with young children. The courses and activities focus on child care administration, parent education, community services and special programs working with child abuse, foster care, adoption, and resources and services available for families with children.

Family Services

This emphasis offers students the knowledge and experience to work successfully with families. Coursework and activities provide knowledge with emphasis on family interaction and functioning, family structure, family styles, various types of families, and family services and resources.

Gerontology

Students who choose this emphasis will take courses on topics like psychology of aging, independent living, communication, and community health and leisure services. Coursework and experiential opportunities prepare students for employment in places such as nursing homes, senior centers, area agencies on aging, retirement facilities, retirement communities, and a wide variety of other aging acencies.
