Alpha Psi Omega is a national honor society for students majoring in Theatre. Membership is based on production activities and academic excellence. Among its many other activities, the group sponsors the annual touring Children's show and donates the proceeds to charity.

The purpose of FOLA is to introduce a broader idea of the Hispanic heritage culture to all of the NWMSU family, as well as the community, through the practice and performance of the beautiful traditional folkloric dances of Latin America. We welcome everybody who wants to have fun and learn about other Latin cultures. No previous dance experience is necessary.

A student organization which honors active forensic participation and scholarly activity and promotes improvement of public speaking skills. Students qualify for membership by competing in tournaments and maintaining a sufficient grade point average.

French club is an organization that offers a little piece of French culture on campus. Everyone, French speaking or not is welcome to join/attend.

Future Speech/Theatre Educators of Northwest provides support, information, and social opportunities for students pursuing a B.S.ED. in Speech/Theatre. The group produces plays and workshops for the university community and is active with area secondary schools.

HALO originated at the University of Kansas and has been active at Northwest for over a decade. The purpose of HALO is to promote and maintain a healthy and positive environment for not only Hispanic students, but for any student who would like to learn more about the Hispanic cultures. HALO holds annual burrito and fund-raisers. The annual events held by HALO include: Hispanic Heritage Month, La Fiesta Latina, Shake your Bon-Bon, a Regional Empowerment Conference, and the USHLI National Conference. HALO also actively visits various Nodaway county schools to educate young people about Hispanic Cultures.

Comedy Inc. is a performance-based Improvisational Theatre group. Auditions are held up to three times per year and are open to the entire campus with no previous experience required. The group will meet once a week to rehearse and stay fresh on current improvisational activities. This group presents an Improvisation show each trimester, open to the public.

A national communication honor society which recognizes, fosters and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies, encourages professional development among majors, provides an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication and establishes and maintains closer relationships and mutual understanding between speech communication faculty and students. Membership is based on grade point. New members are inducted each semester.

LEO provides future educators the opportunity to meet current foreign language teachers. Each presenter demonstrates cutting edge techniques that work well for them in the classroom. The organization provides an arena for networking with future employers and an opportunity for professional development ouside of the classroom.

The preeminent public relations student organization in the world, PRSSA has a membership of more that 5,000 students in approximately 200 chapters nationwide. The Northwest PRSSA chapter offers students the opportunity to gain experience, learn from local, regional and national leaders, compete for national scholarships and awards and make friends and contacts which will last a lifetime.

Northwest American Sign Club is open to any student who has an interest in American Sign Language. The ASL club's purpose is to promote the awareness of ASL and the Deaf Culture. We discuss issues within the Deaf Culture and community and discuss how it relates to our everyday lives. It is a place to come and learn new sign language as well as enhance skills students may already have. The group meets 1-2 times a month and will plan activities such as visiting the Missouri School for the Deaf or attending The Missouri Commission for the Hard of Hearing and Deaf Conference in the fall of each year.

Open to any student interested in theatre, University Players produce up to eight plays per year in the Lab Series. These shows are designed and directed by students. The group also attends national conventions where they learn about the latest developments in theatre and meet students and professors from other colleges and universities.

USITT keeps performing arts technical professionals in touch with today's rapidly changing scene by fostering a free exchange of ideas and information regarding theatre technology. USITT actively promotes research and investigation in performing arts technology. It is a national organization with an international association.
