Getting To Know Marcy Roush

Hello, My name is Marcy Roush. I am the American Sign Language Instructor at Northwest. I graduated from Northwest with a B.S. in Elementary Education and Certification Mentally Handicapped. I completed my MSEd in Learning Disabilities in 2001. I have certification in Teaching Learning Disabilities K-12, Teaching Multi or Cross Categorical K-12, Early Childhood Special Education, and EMH K-12. I taught in the public schools for eight years before moving back to Maryville to teach American Sign Language at Northwest. I am married with three children and reside in Maryville. My interest in American Sign Language began at a young age while living and working in Des Moines, IA. I was trained in Pidgin and American Sign Language and began to develop Early Childhood Programs that involevd teaching ASL to younger children. I continued to teach ASL at various Vo-tech schools before arriving at Northwest. I teach Deaf Culture and the basic Sign Language classes. I also do provide consultation for area school districts.
