Getting To Know Lori Durbin

Hello, my name is Lori Durbin, I have been a faculty member at Northwest Missouri State University since 1990. I received my Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Missouri Columbia in Communication Disorders. I have worked for several school districts, Department of Corrections and various nursing homes, administering therapy to individuals with speech, language and hearing disorders. I grew up in Maryville along with my three younger sisters. My father was a dentist and my mother is a homemaker. My husband, Kelly, is a pharmaceutical sales rep., and we have a 7 year old son Connor. I also have a 20 year old son Brad and a 18 year old son Michael. Teaching at Northwest Missouri State University affords me the opportunity to know my students on a more personal level because class sizes are small. I enjoy helping them navigate their way through Northwest and watching them reach their goals. I also enjoy working part time administering therapy to individuals with speech and language disorders. It is very gratifying watching students and adults progress through the therapy process and learn to communicate more effectively.
