Academic Interests

• Faunal distribution, endangered species, habitat restoration, taxonomy, ecology, conservation, museum and zoo curation. Also a special interest in the wildlife "underdogs" - bats, snakes, spiders, mice/rats, and predators (wolves, cats, etc.).

Scholarly Activity

• Have 224 scholarly publications. Most recent publications in 2011: (1) An Adult Male Harlequin Duck at the Maryville Sewage Lagoons, Nodaway County, Missouri (photo). The Bluebird, Aud.Soc.Mo. 78 (1):32. (2) A Rare Trophy Axe from Northwest Missouri, and a Red Stone Celt from Northeast Kansas. Central States Archaeological Journal. 58(2):64. (3) Modified Paleo Bone Sharpened Digging/Pick Tools of Extinct Bison and Sabertooth Cat from Southwest Iowa. Central States Archaeological Journal. 58(3):148-151.

• Advisor for 102 River Wildlife Club

Other Professional Experiences

1. Have worked for the National Park Service as a seasonal Ranger-Naturalist-Interpreter for 15 summers at National Parks (Crater Lake, Glacier, Bryce Canyon, Big Bend, Sequoia -Kings Canyon, and Lava Beds).
2. Environmental Impact Statements for wind turbine site establishments, Lake Impoundments, etc.
