Student Organizations

An accounting, Economics, or Finance student may wish to enhance his/her educational experiences by becoming part of one or more of the many student organizations available on campus. Some of the organizations that are available for our majors to join are listed below.

Accounting Society

The Accounting Society is a student organization made up of accounting majors who want to learn more about the profession. Activities include listening to guest speakers, Missouri Tax Credit for the Elderly, Accounting Day, field trips and provision of tutor help. Accounting Society also provides a setting in which to socialize with accounting professors and other accounting students.

Delta Mu Delta

The Gamma Eta chapter of this business honor society was installed in April 1994. Members are junior, seniors, and graduate students meeting high scholastic standards in programs accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.

Financial Management Association

This student group was established in 1970 to provide an organization in which finance educators, researchers, investment analysts, and financial managers can come together to share ideas and work to improve the profession. FMA activities include hosting speakers from the finance profession, field trips to finance-related businesses, a book sale fundraiser, recognition of an outstanding junior and senior member, and an end-of-semester party.

FMA National Honor Society

The FMA National Honor Society was established in 1974 to encourage and reward scholarship and achievement in finance among undergraduate and graduate students at U.S. and Canadian colleges. It is the only honorary society which specifically recognizes outstanding achievement in finance.

Omicron Delta Epsilon

ODE is the international honor society for economics. To be admitted, students must have completed a minimum of 12 hours of economics with a "B" average, and an overall 3.0 GPA.

Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE)

SIFE is a student community service organization dedicated to promoting the principles of free enterprise and market economies to (K-12) youth. The group plans, creates, organizes, and presents educational programs to area elementary, middle, and high school students. Annually, the Northwest SIFE team will have an opportunity to compete for national awards, prizes, scholarships, and jobs!
